Surrounded by around 50 free-flying pairs of storks, almost 200 Barbary macaques and a lively herd of fallow deer, you go in search of the missing monkey princess "Amia". During the exciting scavenger hunt you will discover the Affenberg Salem and its biodiversity with new eyes. As soon as you have completed all the tasks, a surprise awaits you.The Affenberg is a kind of Noahs Ark for the Barbary apes: a place that ensures their survival. In the past 25 years, Barbary ape populations have plummeted and are on the IUCN red list. It is estimated that fewer than 8,000 Barbary macaques live in the wild.Affenberg Salem and its partner parks not only have the worlds most important reserve stock of Barbary macaques, but are also committed to protecting wild Barbary macaques in Morocco. We are currently supporting BMAC (Barbary Macaque Awareness & Conservation), thereby financing various conservation projects. In addition, we volunteer to protect the white storks in the region and support “Chances for Nature” in their plan to protect the Kirindy Forest and its endemic species in Madagascar.
